For nearly 50 years, Kukurin Contracting, Inc. has been a specialized utility contractor servicing Southwestern and Central Pennsylvania. Our areas of expertise include water and wastewater infrastructure development as well as bridge construction. Essential Functions:
 

The ideal candidate will have background in providing cost estimating and cost analysis services to a variety of clients. The responsibilities of this position include:
 

  • Perform complete quantity takeoffs and apply corresponding budget pricing based on historical data to develop cost models and estimates.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings, attend pre-bid meetings and walkthroughs, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of budget and estimate.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure complete and accurate preparation of proposals, budgets, and presentations to clients.
  • Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction, codes and materials, construction costs, wage rates, and working rules; research, review and suggest new materials and methods to apply to projects as required.
  • Interface with Owner, General Manager, subcontractors, and other team members to build lasting relationships and provide superior customer service.
  • Gather, calculate, and compile data for use in conceptual/bid proposal estimates.
  • Maintain current, accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contact and written materials, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
  • Support the design teams with constructability reviews of the plans under development.
  • Monitor construction progress; document project progress; report contractor progress.
  • Perform field inspection duties.
  • Manage submittal review process.
  • Review contractor pay estimates; review Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules.
  • Facilitate project meetings including preparation of agenda, recording meeting minutes, preparing and distributing meeting reports.
  • Ensure projects adhere to all government and industry standards and guidelines.
  • Implement and maintain document control management systems.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related fields.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in the construction industry with water and wastewater treatment systems experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cost estimating principles and procedures, construction methods, and related industry experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in understanding and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques, conceptual budgeting, cost control, competitive lump sum bidding, planning, scheduling, and material pricing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Hard Dollar or other cost estimating systems.
  • Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems, etc.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of commonly used business practices as they relate to Engineering and Construction.
  • Experience with Project Management and Team Leadership.
  • Ability to create and develop technical work products (cost estimates and related products); ability to develop and edit technical reports.


Supervisory Responsibility:
 

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
 

This is a full-time position. Work days are Monday through Friday with hours coinciding with project requirements. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
