Summary/Objective

As an Estimator, your primary responsibility will be to estimate municipal water and wastewater pipeline projects. You will collaborate and work with other estimators, architects, engineers and owners to coordinate and estimate the work. You will also perform project management with our team. Your responsibility will be to help manage our construction projects to finish on time and on budget while delivering a quality product. You’ll need to collaborate and work with the construction team to coordinate and install the work designed as intended and help problem solve unforeseen issues to deliver a successful project to the customer.

Essential Functions

  • Reviewing and following construction plans, specifications, and contract documents to estimate/manage projects
  • Plan and coordinate the project with support staff and customers
  • Estimate projects with support staff and customers
  • Estimate all aspects of the trade: pipe installation, testing, pavement restoration, etc…
  • Attend pre-bid meetings with owners, architects, and engineers to accurately estimate projects and review scope of the projects, no overnight travel required
  • Help assist project field labor and materials for construction projects based upon your estimate
  • Coordinate all equipment, material, and subcontractor purchases and deliveries for the project
  • Create and manage all correspondences, front end & closeout documents, submittals, PO’s, and job costs by keeping accurate and up to date files with ViewPoint software
  • Track productivity of the manpower, inspect work for compliance and quality and take corrective action quickly to eliminate extra costs and document accordingly
  • Develop, review, and maintain project schedules and schedule of values
  • Identify and track all costs, identify and manage potential changes in scope of work
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining monthly contract billings
  • Develop and maintain quality relationships will customers, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Perform construction site visits and attend regular project meetings on construction sites

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of Heavy Highway/Utility construction experience
  • Understanding how to read, review, and implement construction plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Learn and understand new computer software quickly
  • Knowledge of Hard Dollar and scheduling software a plus
  • Highly self-motivated with great work ethics
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Have great organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and solve issues
  • Outstanding relationship building skills
  • Great communication skills, verbal and written

Experience

3+ Years of experience in Construction, Estimating and Project Management

Education

  • Associates or BS degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field a plus
