The Shop/Yard Assistant supports the team in our heavy equipment shop. Prior general knowledge of construction heavy equipment is a plus. The Shop/Yard Assistant works to support all shop personnel of various disciplines – Mechanics, Painting, Small Engines, Drivers, and Welding. Additionally, the Yard Assistant is responsible for maintaining a working relationship with the Equipment Manager, Yard Supervisor, Superintendents, and Foremen.
Responsibilities Include:
- Organizing the equipment yard and supply warehouse.
- Works with the Equipment Manager and Yard Supervisor on the status of inventory.
- Gathers the necessary equipment, tools, and supplies to send to various construction site locations.
- Able to measure and perform basic calculations.
- Operates a loader and forklift occasionally.
- Responsible for cleaning vehicles and equipment.
- Occasionally runs for parts for Mechanics.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License and have a clean driving record.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be willing to work outdoors.
- Must be capable to lift 100 pounds.
- Must be capable to walk, stand, bend, twist, and lift for the majority of the workday.
